The snow is almost gone. There are little piles of it here and there, but for the most part it’s all melted. I’m sad to see it go, but it’s nice to take a trip into town without fear of black ice. Plus, after the second day, everything turned to slush and mud. Yuck.
Since the roads were clear, I finally had the chance to give away the Crochet Half Moon Shawl. My friend Ellen had a big smile when she saw it. Sorry, but I didn’t get a picture. I forgot the camera in the car (oops). It really looks great on her though!

Forum-wise, I never did get an answer from the Crochetville CAL about the mismatched corners. Seems like I caught the very tail end of the Half Moon Shawl craze, since there was only one response. Maybe it’ll pick up again?

So, now I’ve got shawl fever. I’m searching for new patterns at the moment, but nothing has caught my eye. I think I’ll find a vintage pattern or maybe try the Seraphina, but I’m not sure yet.
*That’s cool* a random fact
Water expands when it freezes, but the majority of other liquids contract.

It turned out really well! I’ve never worn a shawl in my life, so I never make them, but they are really pretty.
Shawls just look kinda funny with t-shirts and sweats, lol!
I have shawl fever right now too. One day, perhaps, I’ll be able to crochet one. Right now, I can’t even do the pattern I wanted for Sissy’s snuggle.
That truly is lovely, and I’m sure she’ll enjoy it often!
It turned out great. I have yet made a shawl but I was thinking about the Seraphina as well. I wish I could say we are done with snow but just this morning we got another foot and it is still snowing! Can’t wait to see what shawl you pick next.
I like I like it is oh so cute. Love it. I also haven’t yet to make a shawl I will have to one day. Great job Lauarh.:)
Its very pretty. I’m sure your friend felt very special to be the one receiving it! We haven’t gotten snow. It snowed here once but melted on contact. We’ve had a few very cold days but other than that, I’m waiting for winter to start.
Great pictures of the melting snow!
I know what you mean about fear of the black ice – I slipped on some black ice last February (in downtown Cleveland where I work), and broke my right wrist. Darn ice just looked like a puddle. I’m extra careful about where I step now. We’re having a very nice, dry, snow-free 40 degree day here in Cleveland today – that 40 degrees feels positively balmy after the spate of -10 degree days we had a week ago!
