How cute is this blanket? This is the 100% cotton Plaid Baby Blanket from FAO Shwarz. Those bright and unconventional colors, especially the black, really caught my eye. The site says the colors, “promote visual stimulation”. I’ll have to take their word for it.
You can own one for $45, but the pattern is oh so easy! Just simple (hdc?) squares in the round. Personally, I would use the adjacent stitch for the corners to create a more solid looking square.

Need another reason to love this blanket? Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s baby Shiloh has one! (If you’re looking for more sightings of crocheted items owned by famous babies try the Celebrity Baby Blog.)

Followed your link from Craftster. Love this blog! Really like how you compose your FO shots. What lovely backdrops you have where you live.
My friend just adopted a baby, and I think this blanket is just the ticket–to make, that is.
I’m tempted to try this but wonder how are the squares attached? It looks like they are crocheted together, rather than making them separately and then joining them, which can sometimes leave a ridge that you either love or don’t.
Any ideas? Thx . . .
I would guess that the squares are joined with a whipstitch through both loops (rather than back loops only).
